This shooting happened a mile from my home. My son sent me a text at 3:09 the morning of July 20 to let me know about the shootings at Century, a theater he had attended 3 midnight releases of this year. He went to a different theater that night and as parents we were spared the unthinkable, the unknowable. As members of the Aurora community, we grieve for all that were lost, for all we have lost. I hope everyone that has been touched by this latest tragedy can find some peace in what has happened and as you said so beautifully to never let the shooter take away who we are and who we can be. My heart sank when I was told the news as well. It had me searching for a reason, why did this happen? I've never been apart of anything like this, but it is still surreal to watch it unfold, or to hear the stories that come out of this. Like the thing with Jessica Redfield who was in the toronto shooting. She too blogged about that event before the tragic fate that would take her. It is totally insane.
